Who Is MC Reef?
I am a NYC born and raised Hip-Hop Artist with a deep love for music. I have been writing and recording music, professionally since 2011. I believe that the music I make is a therapeutic vibe for all age groups as it features many elements from pain to wisdom down to wit, humor and art. My sound will always connect with the intended target no matter the location!
What inspired you to make music?
My journey as an artist was inevitable. The women in my family wrote poems, my grandmother sang around the house, my brother also rapped and always asked for a piano for Christmas, my mom and siblings sang along to the jams with the radio on blast, and we watched many musicals (Madea, specifically lol). My step father literally played the same R.Kelly, Jay-Z, 2Pac and Biggie Smalls albums all day long on his days off. I played clarinet in 6th grade as well as a variety of instruments in my senior year of high school. I found a USB drive in the rain one day which also turned out to be an MP3 player that had all of the current and trending Hip Hop/RNB hits and classics. From that day on, I fell in love with the art of story telling and the ability to match words before I discovered the recording process which I found to be the more interesting and challenging part of being a great musician
what is the ultimate goal?
I believe in the power of music to bring people together, inspire creativity, and promote positive change. I am committed to sharing my story while creating a safe and inclusive space for our community to connect and share their love of music at the same time.
